Alphabet spun off agricultural startup Mineral into a separate company

Agricultural startup Mineral has become a separate company, part of the Alphabet holding. The startup has been in the holding's incubator for a long time.

Mineral is committed to scaling sustainable agriculture. The company develops a platform and tools for collecting unique information about the plant world. This data is processed by a machine learning-based system that helps improve farming efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Mineral CEO Elliott Grant said in a blog post that after five years in the Alphabet incubator, the startup is becoming a stand-alone company within a holding company. Mineral collects vegetation data with its own autonomous rovers. Experts believe that the startup became interesting to the holding because of this development. Prior to this, Alphabet acquired several other startups developing robots.

Mineral is now planning to create detailed plant and crop datasets that can be used by farmers around the world. These data will help to discover new factors of growth and production efficiency.
