The Russian Ministry of Digital Development sees a slowdown in wage growth in the IT industry. This is a good sign that indicates a cooling of the market, said the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev.

He recalled that average salaries in accredited IT companies at the end of 2022 increased by more than 15%. There are no statistics for 2023 yet.

“2022 - panic, people are leaving. How do companies operate? They are increasing salaries a little bit to calm people down a little. We do not see a drop in wages, but a slowdown in wage growth, which, of course, is a good sign for us - that they are not growing at the same pace as they grew before. We believe that this temporary slowdown overall indicates that the market is moving from an overheated to a cooling stage,” the minister said.

Kommersant previously wrote that, according to a survey, almost 35% of Russian IT specialists experienced a decrease in income. The publication referred to a survey by the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC), conducted in September-October. The share of workers facing a decrease in income has increased compared to the survey data conducted in January-February.
