Russia (Bbabo.net) - The share of used cars with limited mileage on the secondary market in Russia is approximately 35%, according to the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD), as reported by the Izvestia newspaper.
The association notes that almost every third used car has odometer tampering, which significantly affects the selling price. For example, one of the advertisements for the sale of Renault Logan indicated a mileage of 48.5 thousand km, while the real figure was 329 thousand km, which could lead to a price difference of 300 thousand rubles, as the president of ROAD emphasizes.
In 2023, the Krasnodar Territory became the leader among Russian regions in the high share of used cars with damaged mileage (24%). In other regions, such as Samara, Chelyabinsk, Rostov regions and Bashkiria, this share was about 23%, in the Moscow and Sverdlovsk regions - 21%, and in Tatarstan, St. Petersburg and Moscow - 17%.
According to ROAD estimates, the total damage to buyers of used cars during 2023 is estimated at 612 billion rubles. The most cases of mileage falsification were observed in cars of the brands Ford, Land Rover, Infiniti and Mitsubishi.
You can buy a car with fake mileage not only from dealers, but also on online platforms, emphasized the vice-president of the National Automobile Union, Jan Heitzer, adding that the likelihood of such a purchase in large cities is less than in the periphery, due to the lack of local services necessary qualifications and diagnostic equipment.
