Sber Entertainment (a subsidiary of Sber) closed the Punch social network project for musicians

At the end of January 2024, Sber Entertainment (a subsidiary of Sber) closed the Punch social network project for musicians, in which it was possible to create and promote music. The developers gave users time to download all the content they created from Punch.

In July 2022, Sberentertainment developed and prepared for launch two new social networks. The first is an analogue of TikTok with vertical videos called Chipz. This service combines a content catalog, video editor and social network. There are already different templates (chips), when working with which you can use the built-in library of music, movies and shows. The current name of the project is “Speech”. This project will continue to operate and there are no plans to close it.

The second project is the Punch social network, in which you can create and promote music. The Punch service was largely created for musicians and artists. It was assumed that in it the user would have access to a mobile studio where he could use ready-made beats, audio effects and a neural network that generates song lyrics based on several words.

The publication of new content in Punch was limited from January 17, 2024, and on January 31, the social network officially ceased operation.

“We are sad to announce that Punch is suspending operations.

Our team has gone through all phases of denial, but today we are forced to accept that we will not be able to further support the project.

Briefly about the reasons - in the current video platform market it is very difficult to remain an independent project. Despite the constant growth of authors and the amount of content, it was not easy for us to scale viewers. Growth slowed down, and this sealed the fate of the project.

Punch was a beautiful project born out of a difficult time. We managed to create a community that will live. Songs that will be sung. Authors who will grow. Our artists have performed everywhere - at concerts, TV shows, radio, films and TV series. We are grateful to each user, partner and our entire team - you helped us at every stage of the project’s life,”

- said the project developers.
