As Carnewschina writes, it will be difficult for BYD to avoid cannibalization of sales in its lineup in 2024, since the automaker already has more than 100 current models and trim levels.
However, today the BYD Seal 06 was presented - it is a plug-in hybrid sedan of the new Seal family belonging to the Ocean series. The photographs were published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.
This is a 5-seater car with dimensions of 4830 × 1875 × 1495 mm and a wheelbase of 2790 mm. Depending on the transmission option, the curb weight is 1660 or 1775 kg. The car will be equipped with an optional sunroof.
The Seal 06 is based on the DM-i hybrid platform and will come in two powertrain options with 120 kW (TZ210XYB) and 160 kW (TZ210XYC) electric motors manufactured at BYD's Hefei plant. Both variants will be powered by a proprietary 1.5-liter BYD472QC engine with a peak power of 74 kW. The maximum speed of both variants is limited to 180 km/h. The batteries will provide a power reserve of 60 and 90 km, respectively.
Seal 06 will be positioned lower than BYD Seal and Seal DM-i. A fully electric version will likely be introduced later this year.
