Peskov said that there are currently no decisions to completely ban VPNs in Russia

The Russian authorities have not yet made decisions on a complete ban on VPN services, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“I can only say that now there are no decisions on this matter. This is what we need to proceed from,” he noted.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor recalled that from March 1, 2024, a rule will be introduced limiting access to materials that popularize VPN services. Previously, the department developed criteria for blocking sites with information about ways to gain access to resources prohibited in Russia.

Publications also appeared in the media with reference to the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, which reported on the ban on VPN services in the Russian Federation from March 1. Mizulina herself, in a conversation with TASS, called these publications an interpretation of her words.
