Surge Automobiles has introduced a very original vehicle in India: the Surge S32 combines an autorickshaw and a scooter. Moreover, both of them have their own electric motors.
The vehicle is built on the AMSEP (Advanced Modular Scaleable Electric Platform) modular platform. The main part is a cart that can be configured to carry passengers or cargo, while the front part is essentially an electric scooter.
Of course, carrying loads or several people requires power, so the cart has its own 17.5 hp electric motor. The scooter has its own 8 hp motor. The scooter is “taken out” from the rickshaw: to do this, you need to tilt up the windshield of the cab and perform a number of simple manipulations. If you get used to it, the transformation will take very little time.
The maximum speed of the Surge S32 in the “assembled” state is 45 km/h, the scooter itself can accelerate to 60 km/h. The price of the new product and the start date of sales have not been disclosed.
