The winners of the GreenTech Startup Booster 2021 are announced

Russia has already passed the second selection of the country's largest support program for technology startups in the field of reducing the negative impact on the environment and achieving sustainable development goals. This program is organized jointly with the Moscow Innovation Cluster, VEB.RF and the Innovation Promotion Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities. Now its winners have become known.

How was the selection

The search, evaluation and selection of projects were carried out by experts of the Skolkovo Foundation at the technological request of the largest Russian and international industrial companies. There were many participants in 2021 - 963 applications were received at once. All projects of the participants corresponded to the objectives of the competition. That is, they were aimed at reducing the company's carbon footprint, reusing resources and recycling waste, assessing the state of the environment, reducing emissions into the atmosphere, discharges into water bodies, industrial pollution of subsoil and soil, limiting damage from environmental impact, ensuring human safety. in production, solving urgent environmental problems in the Far North.

The high interest in the competition, noted Arkady Dvorkovich, Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation, is due to the fact that today the topic of green technologies is one of the most in demand: “We see that the risks associated with the environmental situation and the negative consequences of climate change are growing. At the same time, the number of proposed solutions is expanding in order to prevent, mitigate and eliminate these consequences. As part of our program, we connect all stakeholders: ministries, large companies, corporations and startups. It is worth noting that about 45% of applications from participants in the 2021 program have already found support from government and business representatives. "

Winning projects

27 projects passed to the superfinal of the competition. The winners of the GreenTech Startup Booster 2021 are:

Rusgeotech (Skolkovo resident) - temperature monitoring, control and analysis of the state of water bodies.

Aerogas (a Skolkovo resident) - utilization of APG and flares and dehydration of CO2.

GK Real Invest - carbon dioxide capture and purification plants.

DWF Lab - Generation of Electricity from Wind Power.

Rotary disc technologies - capturing carbon dioxide from the flue waste of enterprises.

The practical importance of the development and implementation of innovative technologies was emphasized by Pavel Sorokin, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation: “It is important to identify the technological capabilities of the business, as well as bring them to fruition. Business requirements change very quickly, and small active startups can become an important part of the overall innovation system. Unfortunately, we are not a global leader in support for startups. But institutions like Skolkovo are Russian champions. The Ministry of Energy is currently working on such areas as hydrogen energy, particle capture technologies, as well as energy efficiency technologies along the entire production chain. In our area, we see an urgent need for new start-ups and projects that could attract partners and be used by domestic manufacturers. "

What else?

In addition to ordinary projects, student and youth projects were considered in the competition. There are, of course, winners here too:

In the Junior segment, the first place and 100 thousand rubles for revision was given to the project "Second Life of Wind Turbine Blades" Wind Behind, Sea Ahead! "

The second place and 50 thousand rubles went to "MohoFilter" with the program "Development and creation of an intelligent system of street filters using moss".

Projects from BinData with the start-up “Installation of garbage cans filling sensors to reduce the cost of transportation of PUHTO and reduce CO2 emissions” and “SOK”, which presented a real-time microclimate optimization system, shared the third place and received 25 thousand rubles each.

Alexey Miroshnichenko, First Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF noted: “In the medium term, technologies related to energy efficiency, absorption of greenhouse gases, measurements and their verification and validation will be in demand. All this creates a market and an opportunity to monetize for those who develop such technologies. It is necessary to reach agreement between state bodies and interstate associations, agreement between countries on which technologies are suitable for monitoring waste emissions, and also be prepared for the fact that some decisions need to wait to get their effective demand. "

Among the student projects, the jury selected the following projects:The first place and 300 thousand rubles went to the Siberia company with the program “Development of an innovative anti-fouling coating applied under water and operating at low temperatures”.

The second place and 200 thousand rubles were awarded to the startup "Biodegradable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Solve the Problem of Environmental Pollution by Waste Caused by the Global Coronavirus Pandemic" from the mask.

The third place and 100 thousand rubles was awarded to SPAWN for the project “Creating a product from a material containing mycelium in its structure”.

The high demand for the implementation of fundamentally new solutions that exists today in most areas of human activity, noted Konstantin Mikhailik, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation: represented by citizens. The modern solutions that are expected of us should be on the green economy agenda. Russia has prospects for the development of this story. Creating an ecosystem or platform in which good ideas do not disappear, but can develop, will help us catch up with the leading positions. Skolkovo, on the one hand, attracts various specialists, and on the other hand, it organizes such competitions that allow evaluating the proposed solutions from an expert point of view. "

In addition, within the framework of the super final, the winners of the Start-Greentech Innovation Assistance Fund program were announced, aimed at grant financing of up to 3 million rubles for projects dealing with green topics.
