Journalists showed the first photo of a special Presto system for updating an iPhone in the Apple Store without opening the package

Professional journalists showed the first photo of a special Presto wireless system for updating several iPhones at once in the Apple Store without opening the package.

Earlier, journalist Mark Gurman explained that Apple Stores would soon receive sets of special devices similar to a tablet in a small box. It's a new patented system, codenamed Presto, that runs on MagSafe and other wireless technologies and is "a bit like a metal shoebox."

It is assumed that the employee will place this tablet on a branded box with a sealed iPhone, will be able to turn on the smartphone remotely and without unpacking, update to the latest version of iOS, and then the gadget will be turned off for sale and delivery to the buyer. Several devices cannot be updated in this way at the same time. This option will first be offered to customers in the Apple Store upon request.

According to Gurman, Apple further plans to update not only software for the iPhone, but also its other products in stores in this way. Apple specifically developed Presto technology as a way to avoid selling iPhones in retail stores with outdated software, so that new products can be updated with the latest versions of software that fixes previously discovered bugs.

According to the new data, each Presto kit is a small metal shelving box that fits at least six boxes of new iPhones on the side at a time. Smartphone locations have special markings to ensure iPhone boxes are positioned correctly and in designated NFC zones depending on the size of the package. According to the experts' explanation, after placing the iPhone in the box in Presto, an employee initiates a system update, and this process takes from 15 minutes to 30 minutes and can occur while the buyer of the device is waiting for it to be picked up at the Apple Store.

According to media sources, the Presto project was developed by the Apple Backstage Operations team, which develops special tools for technicians and employees of Apple retail stores.
