Durov responded to Telegram's insecurity allegations

The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, responded to accusations of a weak level of user protection in the messenger - he published a corresponding post on his Telegram channel.

Telegram is sticking to its promise to keep user data private, he said, while apps like WhatsApp lend it to third parties and may disclose the content of messages.

Durov referred to The Record material, which confirms his words.

"I'm not surprised. Most other apps couldn't guarantee their users' privacy, even if they wanted to. Since their engineers reside in the US, they have to secretly inject backdoors into their applications when the authorities order them to do so, "Durov wrote.

According to him, backdoors left in messengers can be used to hack smartphones and extract personal data of people.

“I have heard that our competitors in the US are disappointed that they cannot keep up with the growth of Telegram, despite significant investment in marketing. But in order to keep up with our growth, they must first make sure their actions are in line with their marketing claims. Until then, data leaks and security problems in their applications, unfortunately, will remain inevitable, ”concluded the founder of Telegram.

A few days before Durov's statement, the founder of the Signal messenger Moxie Marlinspike questioned the security of Telegram, which does not provide end-to-end data encryption.

Earlier, I talked about the fact that Pavel Durov provoked a rise in prices for cryptocurrency.
