Over 1.5 Billion Apple Users Are At Risk

Several malicious services for watching movies were found in the App Store, writes Forbes, citing a statement from developer Costa Eleftheriou. It is reported that 1.6 billion iPad and iPhone owners are at risk.

According to Eleftheriou, these apps are disguised as photo editors and platforms for watching movie trailers and films themselves. They are all Fleeceware applications that steal money from users in secret.

The scheme is as follows: the user downloads the application he needs with a free trial period, most often three days. Then, disproportionately large amounts for the subscription are automatically debited from it.

At the same time, Apple receives 15-30% of the income of such services. According to Eleftheriu, the company does not deliberately remove them from the store for profit.

"While Apple does not control its App Store, these applications have already been downloaded more than 2 million times and now they bring their creators about $ 16 thousand a day, or about $ 6 million a year," - said the developer.

Earlier I talked about which application steals money from Android users.
