Russia - The doctor spoke about the effect of smartphones on the color and condition of the skin

Russia (bbabo.net), - The active use of smartphones and other gadgets can lead to the so-called "digital aging of the skin". People with dark skin, who are more sensitive to visible light and prone to hyperpigmentation, are at risk.

“With the active use of smartphones, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, people are increasingly exposed to blue light or HEV radiation (High-eney visible light). Blue light is high-frequency high-energy light in the visible spectrum in the range of 400 up to 500 nm, "dermatologist Veronika Korshikova told aif.ru.

The main danger of blue light, the specialist notes, is that it penetrates deeper layers of the skin compared to UVA and UVB rays. In scientific publications, you can find information that HEV rays can cause damage to the DNA of cells, collagen and elastin fibers. As a result, the changes accelerate skin aging.

However, the biological effects of blue light are not yet fully understood. As noted by the doctor, further research is needed on the effect of HEV radiation on the skin.
