Russia - Snow cyclone disrupted transport links on Sakhalin

Russia (bbabo.net), - At the airport of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, 13 flights were delayed or canceled due to a snowstorm, the information service of the air harbor reported.

"Airport services are working in an enhanced mode for the second day. The condition of the runway allows you to receive and release aircraft. But the factors affecting the operation of flights are still the same: low visibility and a strong side wind," the Khomutovo airport press service said.

According to information from the airport's online scoreboard, 13 flights were delayed or canceled, including those to Moscow, Vladivostok, and Khabarovsk. Arriving flights from these cities, as well as from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, are delayed. Today's flights to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk from Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Sovetskaya Gavan, as well as intra-regional flights (11 in total), have been cancelled.

Recall that the Sakhalin Region is experiencing a snow cyclone with a blizzard and storm wind for the second day. Due to limited visibility, the formation of snow drifts in the south of the island, traffic is closed on roads, including the highways Troitskoye - Novotroitskoye, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Sinegorsk, Novo-Aleksandrovsk - Sinegorsk, Listvennichnoye - Okhotskoye, Okhotskoye - Malkovo, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Korsakov, Nevelsk - Tomari - Shakhtersk airport, Novoselovo - Krasnogorsk, North-Western detour of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, according to the official Telegram channel of the region's governor Valery Limarenko.

By order of the Commission for Emergency Situations, bus flights from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to 17 destinations have been canceled.

The ferry crossing Vanino - Kholmsk was closed for the second day. All ferries are in the port of Vanino until the weather improves. The Sakhalin seaports of Korsakov and Kholmsk stopped working.
