Almaty airport received the first plane since the beginning of the riots

The first civilian aircraft has landed at the Alma-Ata airport, which was suspended due to unrest in Kazakhstan. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The aircraft belongs to Air Astana. It is noted that the territory of the airport is guarded by the military.

Earlier it became known that the airport of the city of Alma-Ata returned to work after the attack during the riots. It was closed after the attack on the night of 6 January. During the riots, looters looted cafes, shops and ticket sales points, as well as smashed glass and shop windows inside the air harbor.

On January 9, it was reported that the Alma-Ata airport was closed for an indefinite period. Several hundred Russians turned to the Russian Foreign Ministry with a request to be taken out of Kazakhstan. Most of the appeals came from Alma-Ata.

On January 2, protests erupted in the Kazakh city of Zhanaozen, Mangistau region, over an increase in the price per liter of liquefied gas to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Prior to this, the price of a liter of gas was 60 tenge. Two days later, protesters clashed with the police and military in Almaty and a number of other cities. Clashes also took place in Aktobe, Taraz, Aktau and other settlements. To suppress the riots, the CSTO peacekeeping forces were sent to the republic.
