The expert also spoke about the timing of a possible new wave of coronavirus cases in Russia.
“We need to look at the dynamics that are now in Europe: in England, the incidence has already gone down. It's been about a month. This means that we can extrapolate that for two months we will continue with an acute situation, ”Chumakov said.
Earlier, virologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Felix Ershov called the COVID-19 omicron strain a possible signal for the end of the pandemic.
According to the academician, "omicron" may be a natural vaccine against other, more severe strains. Ershov argues that this effect is associated with the property of the interference of viruses.
