An Argentine judge is under investigation for kissing a convicted cop murderer. It is reported that the woman also sought to reduce the sentence for her lover.
The kiss of the judge from the province of Chubut, Mariel Suarez, with Christian Bustos was caught on CCTV cameras in the prison where the man is being held. A woman sits on a panel of judges who decide whether an Argentinean should be sentenced to life in prison for killing a police officer in 2009.
A week before the incident, Suarez voted that Christian deserved leniency and sought a reduced sentence. After the footage of the kiss became public, Mariel commented on the situation.
“I don’t have any relationship with this person other than work. We had secret negotiations, people stood nearby, so we talked close to each other, ”said the judge.
The provincial supreme court launched an investigation into the case against Suarez. Bustos was sentenced to life in prison.
