Milonov proposed to introduce a new subject in Russian schools

State Duma Deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed introducing a preventive course on student safety in Russian schools. This is reported by RT with reference to Milonov's appeal addressed to the head of the Russian Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov.

The deputy believes that crimes against children and adolescents in the country remain “an urgent tragic problem”, therefore he suggested that the Ministry of Education evaluate the idea of introducing a preventive course on the safety of students into the school curriculum.

“These hours should be devoted to educational program in terms of the behavior of a student in the company of strangers, learning the basics of street self-defense, getting to know the police and learning how to provide first aid to yourself in dangerous situations,” the appeal says.

According to Milonov, such courses should be held annually in each age group of students.

Earlier, Milonov said that the State Duma would soon discuss the introduction of compulsory testing of students for drugs and mental disorders in schools. He argues that such measures will help to avoid many cases of school violence. Milonov also noted that parents currently have the right to refuse to test their child.
