The adorable Story Pod by Atelier Kastelic Buffrey is part lending library, part reading nook, part public art piece and completely adorable.

The designers created the box to have a minimal amount of waste during construction by using standard dimensions of plywood and lumber. The exterior is clad in lumber slats that were placed at varying widths to create visual interest and to emphasize light. The pod is powered by rooftop solar panels that illuminate LED lights inside, which create the lantern-like effect when the pod is closed.

When the pod is open, readers can take, leave or exchange books. There is also space to sit down for a bit to read. At night, the glowing box provides illumination and a visual marker for people visiting the area. The concept is based on similar public library pods.
