Two students were left in shock after settling down for a picnic - only to find that they had been joined by a very unwelcome guest.

Michael Tamayo, was enjoying lunch with his friend by the shore of Lake Alice in Gainesville.

But they were both surprised when, after setting down the picnic blanket and getting out their food, an alligator suddenly strolled up alongside them.

After eyeing up their spread, the cheeky reptile snatched up one of their sandwiches.

A bystander, who was taking pictures with his family, managed to capture the moment on camera.

The video was uploaded to YouTube on November 12 and has clocked up more than 101,000 views.
