Putin instructed to submit ideas for a railway route to the Barents Sea

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to submit proposals for the creation of a railway route to the Barents Sea near the bay of the Indiga River, according to the Kremlin website.

The deadline for the execution of the order is May 10, and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has been appointed responsible for the execution.

In addition, the leader of the country instructed to develop and approve an action plan for the preparation and holding in 2024 of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the BAM by May 10.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that some countries are trying to limit Russia's activities in the Arctic because of the desire to obtain natural resources and control over strategic communications in the region. The politician stressed that far-fetched and “sometimes simply meaningless accusations” are being made against Moscow for failing to ensure the safety of transport, as well as the industrial complex. In addition, according to him, the goal of sanctions pressure is to complicate the implementation of Russian projects in the Arctic and reduce exports from the region.
