Russia (bbabo.net), - In the past two years, not a gram of hydrofluorocarbon has been recycled, although Russia imports 46 million tons of this dangerous greenhouse gas every year. This was announced by the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova during the Gaidar Forum.
Hydrofluorocarbon is a dangerous greenhouse gas. It is found in refrigerators, air conditioners, and various industrial installations. Before disposal of equipment containing this gas, it must be pumped out and recuperated. However, not a single act on the conduct of this process has been submitted for two years, Radionova explained.
According to scientists, over a hundred years, hydrofluorocarbons contribute 14,800 times more to global warming than carbon dioxide.
Rosspirodnadzor believes that there are two options for the mysterious disappearance of tens of tons of this substance. Either when the equipment was disposed of, information about it was not included in the forms, or the owners of the equipment simply did not inform the recyclers about the content of such a dangerous gas. As a result, hydrofluorocarbon is released into the atmosphere, increasing the country's greenhouse gas emissions.
Svetlana Radionova promised to pay special attention to the processing of equipment containing this gas and ensure its proper disposal.
