Since the beginning of the riots in Alma-Ata, 2,601 people have been detained for participating in illegal actions, looting and other crimes.

Kanat Taimerdenov, head of the Alma-Ata police, said earlier that 149 people had died as a result of the riots in the city. Of these, only 11 are security officials, the rest turned out to be civilians. Almost 1,400 firearms and 49 bodies of militants were stolen during the clashes.
