Eduard Khalilov, a certified rescuer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, said that frostbite can be obtained not only in frosty weather. This is reported by Radio Sputnik.

Khalilov stressed that low temperature is not the only factor that can lead to frostbite. High humidity and strong winds increase the risk of tissue damage, even if it is not colder than zero degrees outside.

“We are not so much afraid of low temperatures as wind and humidity, because they greatly affect how quickly we start to freeze and frostbite limbs,” said the rescuer.

According to him, those parts of the body that remain open are most at risk. In them, vasospasm can occur, which leads to frostbite. Fingers and toes may be affected first. The ears and nose are also susceptible to frostbite.

To avoid this, Khalilov advises to dress carefully: have good, not tight shoes with warm insoles, hand protection and a hat.

Earlier, surgeon and cardiologist Vladimir Khoroshev said that excessive warming in cold weather increases the risk of thrombosis.
