Russia - Tiktokers Alena and Vasilisa Kedrov told how fish and rice became a supermeme

Russia (bbabo.net), - Our today's interlocutors are super popular among teenagers. It all started with the fact that a few months ago, an unknown Tiktoker Vasilisa Kedrova posted her tiny video on the Internet - in the video, she, in the form of a teacher, makes her way to the counter in the dining room with the words: "Dear teacher!". A few seconds of a parody video blew up the Internet: the video scored 22 million views, the phrase became a meme, and Vasilisa really woke up famous - now the VASYALISA page has more than one and a half million subscribers on TikTok.

For many it will be a surprise that you, Vasilisa, have a sister, and she takes part in many of your videos...

Vasilisa Kedrova: Yes, we are sisters, we are 19 years old, however, very soon, on January 20, we will turn 20.

So, wait, are you twins or twins?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Nobody knows that! As children, we were very similar, so maybe twins.

My twin friends usually know who is older and who is younger, although the difference is literally minutes. How are you?

Alena Kedrova: Mom had a caesarean section, so we don't know that either! So yes, our birth, one might say, is shrouded in mystery.

Tell me, what are you like in life?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Very different, though so similar. We each have our own interests. I will not surprise you, probably, by saying that I am studying at a pedagogical college, but Alena is in a medical college, as a cosmetologist. We're almost done with six months to go.

I thought you were theater students!

Vasilisa Kedrova: Thank you, but that's not true. We went to high school together and were pretty shy kids. We grew up in a complete family, our mother was a speech therapist, and our father was an instructor in a driving school.

Didn't you study in any drama club?

Alena Kedrova: We studied at a music school, but both ran away from there! In general, the teachers did not particularly like us anywhere, neither in the kindergarten, nor in the gymnasium, nor in the music school. Yes, and classmates were biased. We attracted unflattering attention for our similarities, for sticking together all the time, and also wearing stupid long bangs and having problems with our teeth.

So you had a hard time as a child?

Vasilisa Kedrova: The fact is that when we were 14 years old, our mother died. She was sick for a long time.

What a grief you had to endure!

Vasilisa Kedrova: Yes. There were people nearby who helped us, family friends. And the school even raised money to help us, for which we are very grateful. But ... we expected some more participation from the school, spiritual support, or something. And they didn't get it. On the contrary, after the death of my mother, the attitude towards us became like this: "Well, what do you want, these are children from an incomplete family."

Alena Kedrova: Tell us how we went to the camp with the class and what happened there. A trifle, it would seem, but in fact such things deeply hurt and are remembered for a lifetime.

Vasilisa Kedrova: All the children in the camp had similar sweets with them - after all, we are all from the same city. Same candies, same cookies. One of our girlfriends was supposed to have a birthday there, and my sister and I set aside a chocolate bar with nuts for her as a.jpgt. And at the same time, the exact same chocolate bar disappeared from another girl. She went to the class teacher and said that the Kedrovs had stolen from her, because they supposedly had the same chocolate bar in their suitcase. And do you know what the teacher did?

I'm afraid to even guess...

Vasilisa Kedrova: She said: "Well, the Kedrovas are from an incomplete family! Don't pay attention, this is their situation, forgive them!"

So the teacher didn't even try to understand this story?

Vasilisa Kedrova: I don't understand why she didn't even come to talk to me? How can a teacher set up one child in such a way in relation to another? And the culmination of this whole "pedagogical" story was this: that "injured" girl just climbed into my suitcase and ate my chocolate bar with nuts! "Forgive me." Our girlfriend was left without a.jpgt, in the camp there was nowhere else to buy. It’s good, after all, that we have grown up, and such things don’t hurt us anymore.

Tell me, do they teach you how to act correctly in such situations?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Yes, that's what they teach, our college is good and the teachers are wonderful. But only some of my classmates themselves often bully one of their own. I can hardly imagine what kind of educators can be obtained from those who find it ridiculous to humiliate the weak.

How long have you been making videos on TikTok without much success?Vasilisa Kedrova: I posted my first video a year and a half ago, I shot it like everyone else. For example, she recorded "lipsings", such songs under someone else's sound, with only her lips. I didn't really like how it turned out either. True, at the same time I posted one video about the math, but it went unnoticed. And this fall, she posted "The Road to the Teacher", and he shot - he sharply gained two million views. I realized that this is what needs to be filmed, it is vital, it is liked by people who recognize their own teachers in my heroine.

Tell me, do the heroines have real prototypes? Are these your real teachers?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Well, the algebra teacher is almost an exact copy of mine. But I "corrected" her: in fact, she was not at all so nervous and unbalanced. Yes, she also spoke through her nose, and the catchphrase "What's delicious with us? Fish and rice?" I took it from her. But only she was completely calm, I just decided that the nervous one would be more interesting.

It turned out very realistic! Did she recognize herself?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Fortunately, we haven't had "feedback" yet. I hope she doesn't know anything about my videos. But in general, we live in the same area, and I sometimes meet her on the street. I really don't want her to recognize herself and be offended. Children from our former school often send me photos of her and ask if I am portraying her. But I came up with the image of an Englishwoman from beginning to end.

And what about those teachers who teach now? Are they afraid of you?

Vasilisa Kedrova: They either don't know about us yet, or ignore this topic. Know only classmates, who all relate differently. Someone envies, and someone says "well done!".

What do you feel when you shoot for a long time, give all the best, and in response - nothing?

Vasilisa Kedrova: I am quite self-critical, but, nevertheless, I was very sorry that my videos were not noticed, and especially when my classmates ridiculed them.

What do you feel when one morning you suddenly wake up as a TikTok star?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Suddenly since autumn, a wild wave of hype has begun, my video on TikTok has already gained 22 million views, "The way to the teacher" has become a meme, and people began to massively shoot videos "in response." I remember one of the first days of this whole story, walking down the corridor of the college and hearing this phrase repeated behind me! I was even a little scared! But it's also very nice that people appreciated me and my sense of humor.

Aren't you afraid that this fashion will pass?

Varvara Kedrova: When a blogger starts to lose his popularity, it hurts a lot, people give up. I'm doing well so far, but I know that this moment can come. You should probably just keep doing what you're interested in. It is sometimes scary for me to think that suddenly now is the highest point of success, and this will never happen again. But what's the point of winding yourself up, anyway, I can't change anything here! So I just look for something new that interests me and I do it.

After the video got an abnormal number of views, I released my track - I recorded the song "Dorogu tutor" and the video, it can now be seen on all platforms. We went to Moscow with the team to record the track. In the future, I dream of recording a whole album, moving away from the image of a teacher and appearing as VasYalisa...

I had a hard time contacting you, I had to "knock" through the director and manager... did your life change so much after the success of the video?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Yes, everything has turned around so much, life has changed dramatically. You know, I used to work as a promoter - handing out flyers, both indoors and outdoors. My sister and I did some tastings. Now I work only in my TikTok and I am very happy that I am doing what I like. But I often remember some moments in my life when it was hard.

So, along with popularity came financial success?

Vasilisa Kedrova: At least I don't hand out flyers anymore. I got ad money.

Between trips to Moscow to shoot a video clip and advertising contracts, you go to lectures at a pedagogical college. Success has not globally changed your life plans?

Vasilisa Kedrova: To be honest, in the ninth grade I didn't have much time to think about choosing a profession. Now I want to get a higher education, but choose it consciously. I plan to take a break and figure out what I really want.

Alena, and you? Have you changed your mind about the profession of a cosmetologist yet?

Alena Kedrova: And I still want to connect my life with cosmetology. My dream is to study at the university in the future. My audience is still much smaller than that of my sister, but I hope that there will be future clients among my current subscribers. In general, TikTok has raised our self-esteem a lot, we have become more confident in ourselves and make bolder plans.

We annoyed our classmates by always sticking together and wearing stupid bangs...What advice would you give to beginner TikTokers? Is there a secret to success?

Vasilisa Kedrova: Probably no one knows the secret. For example, we did not expect the video to shoot like that. Moreover, a year ago I posted almost the same video about math, and no one really noticed it! And in the autumn it boomed.

Standing out in the general flow is very difficult. I think you just need to shoot what you want. And don't take criticism too seriously.

Alena Kedrova: And here, consistency is also important. But it is not necessary to immediately upload everything that you shot, you can shoot in the gallery, and then choose and publish the best.

How do you deal with negativity, does it hurt you?

Vasilisa Redrova: I remember how at first I was very hurt by the phrase of a classmate, she said: "You should have come up with such nonsense!". You know, people like to comment and forget, and you sit, delve into yourself, suffer, give up. That's not worth it! They also love to ride on appearance, for example, they ask: "What's wrong with your bite"? But now I react much less to this and even think that my malocclusion is a highlight that helped create the image.

How not to become addicted to social networks?

Vasilisa and Alena: Oh, we can't answer this question! After all, we ourselves, barely waking up, run to check all our messengers, because so many interesting things can happen overnight!
