A Japanese man talks about his marriage to an anime doll

Japanese Akihiko Kondo told the Mainichi Shimbun about his married life with the doll of the virtual singer (vocaloid) Hatsune Miku, whom he married in November 2018.

According to him, after leaving school, he worked as a clerk in the department of education, but faced bullying and disrespect from colleagues. In 2015, Kondo's father died, who supported his son with his rejection of bullying. And at some point, psychiatrists diagnosed him with an adjustment disorder, and he almost stopped eating. However, the man says that his life changed when he heard the voice of the Vocaloid Hatsune Miko, which he could, according to him, listen to around the clock.

In the end, he decided to cement his relationship with his beloved character by holding a wedding ceremony, for which he spent about $17,000. For a while, he could keep up a conversation with his wife using an artificial intelligence program, but in 2020 this option was discontinued by the company.

The publication notes that the story of Kondo has become an inspiration for many Japanese people and gave voice to the victims of bullying and bullying in schools and in the workplace. Kondo became a motivational speaker, and in April 2021, he entered the Faculty of Law at Komazawa University.

In 2016, it was reported that single Japanese people stopped wanting to get married due to high social expectations.
