The course of the disease with the "omicron" strain of coronavirus is easier for adults than with previous strains. Andrey Pozdnyakov, an infectious disease specialist, spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, "omicron" can be infected even after vaccination, but in most cases the disease will pass in a mild or completely erased form and will not require any therapeutic measures, except for symptomatic treatment.
“The history of the development of COVID-19 caused by the “omicron” is evidence of this. It develops rapidly, displacing the “delta”, there are many sick people, few hospitalized, the percentage of severe forms is low. I would like the same to be with us, ”said the doctor.
The doctors also recalled that vaccination is still the most effective medical therapeutic solution for preventing the development of severe forms of COVID-19.
Earlier, the chief otorhinolaryngologist of Moscow, Andrey Kryukov, explained that the “omicron” strain of coronavirus should be treated with antiviral drugs. According to him, this variant of COVID-19 spread very quickly in the capital and resembles a cold in terms of symptoms: pain and sore throat, nasal congestion. Therefore, the doctor believes, in the treatment of "omicron" you need to turn to more familiar methods of treatment.
