The editor-in-chief of Novaya Dmitry Muratov said that despite Matveev's attack, journalists would continue their investigation.

“Our journalists were investigating the causes of the double suicide of the nurses of this hospital. They turned to the deputy chief physician for a comment and were beaten. Dmitry Muratov also commented on the words of the head physician of the hospital, Dmitry Garais, that a counter-claim about illegal entry into the medical facility will be filed against the journalists of the Novaya Gazeta.

“This is his right,” Muratov added.

Earlier it became known that the police had already begun checking information about the attack on the journalists of Novaya in the Surgut Clinical Traumatology Hospital. The publication claims that Andrey Matveev, deputy chief physician, attacked journalists Novaya Izolda Drobina and Arden Arkman when they came to prepare a story about cases of suicide among medical staff in the hospital.
