The human rights activist said that relatives do not know what the wife of ex-judge Yangulbaev is accused of

The whereabouts of the wife of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Saydi Yangulbaev, Zarema Musaeva, is unknown to human rights activists or relatives. Sergei Babinets, lawyer of the Committee Against Torture, said this in an interview with (in 2015, after being entered by the Ministry of Justice into the register of foreign agents, the organization was liquidated, it currently operates under the same name without forming a legal entity).

“Where she is now is completely unknown to us, and the lawyer who filed a petition with the investigator, who summoned her, in fact, for interrogation, was never answered. There is also no information in the public space about where she is. Nizhny Novgorod law enforcement officers also do not tell us anything. We are still in complete ignorance. Just like the relatives of the Yangulbaevs, Yangulbaev himself also does not report anything. That is, where is she, what is with her, is she alive at all, is she healthy, did she receive medical assistance - none of this is known at all, ”he said.

Babinets stressed that it is also unclear why Musaeva is being held. According to him, the only source of information is the Telegram channel of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in which he said that a woman attacked a policeman.

“The grounds on which she is being held are also incomprehensible. There are some very strange words that Ramzan Kadyrov posted on his Telegram channel that she allegedly attacked one of the policemen and because of this she will now be prosecuted. This information is not confirmed by anything, no statements, no publications on this matter have been made anywhere either, only Kadyrov’s words that she attacked a policeman and almost deprived him of his eyes, ”he explained.

According to the human rights activist, this information needs to be checked and found out whether any case has already been initiated against Musayeva. Babinets noted that human rights activists will “deal with this case too, find out what the case is, what she did to the policeman, how she attacked.”

Earlier, on his Facebook page, Babinets said that the former judge of the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya, Saidi Yangulbaev, and his daughter Aliya left Russia because of the threat to their lives. According to the Telegram channel “Caution, news”, the Yangulbaevs flew out of Nizhny Novgorod on the afternoon of January 22. This was preceded by a statement by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, that the Yangulbaevs are "accomplices of terrorists" who will find a place "either in prison or underground."

On the evening of January 20, armed masked men, presumably Chechen Interior Ministry officers, broke into Yangulbaev's apartment in Nizhny Novgorod. Under the pretext of a decision by the Chechen investigation to forcibly bring Yangulbaev and his wife Zarema for interrogation, they took the judge's wife away. The motives of the alleged security officials may be related to the persecution in Chechnya of bloggers involved in the opposition Telegram channel 1ADAT. One of them is the couple's son, lawyer and human rights activist Abubakar Yangulbaev.

On Friday, January 21, Chechen television published a video in which Musayeva communicates with the republic's ombudsman and states that no violence was used against her. The woman also said that she was bought medicine for diabetes and given an injection. More details - in the material.
