She would definitely tear me apart. A pack of dogs keeps a village near Moscow in fear

A homeless dog attacked a resident of one of the settlements of the Moscow region right at the gates of her house, and on the night of the same day, the pack nearly killed the domestic dog. Moreover, the problem of homeless animals is systematic there - they freely make their way to a closed area through a hole in the fence and behave aggressively, while they themselves live in the forest. Many of the dogs have yellow tags that ensure the dog is not aggressive, spayed and vaccinated against rabies. It does not save the people and animals they attack.

A woman was bitten and almost killed a dog

On the morning of January 23, Irina Vasilyeva (name changed at the request of her interlocutor), a resident of a gated cottage community located in the Ramensky district, saw off the courier. Taking a large box, she began to close the gate, when suddenly three dogs ran up to her, one of which - the largest - began to growl, and then suddenly attacked the woman, biting her leg. Having blocked the parcel, Irina began to back away towards the house, and the dog pursued her to the very door, until it was closed from the inside.

Watching from the window, the woman saw the dog run into the territory, sniffing something and leaving marks. After some time, the animal left on its own, and Irina was able to close the gate.

“At first I didn’t even feel pain - I was so terrified. If it weren’t for this huge box that I fought back, it would definitely have torn me to pieces, ”recalls the victim in a conversation with.

And she adds that now she will need to go for injections for rabies and tetanus. The first ones were made a few hours after the incident.

According to her, this, one way or another, is not the worst thing, because what is more important in this situation is that the problem is not being solved in any way, and another time a collision with stray dogs can turn out not only with bites. So, for example, it happened in the evening of the same day: a pack almost killed a local dog that lives with one of the neighbors on a free range. There were bloodstains all over the street, and in the morning the dog could not be found.

We found a good-natured Caucasian Shepherd outside the village - in the stable, where she was driven by dogs from the forest. The owner urgently had to contact the veterinarian. The animal, according to the doctors, received quite serious injuries and needs further treatment, although now its condition has been stabilized.

“It’s better to go outside with self-defence items”

Such cases are not uncommon not only in a particular village, but also in neighboring garden non-profit partnerships (SNT), which have an even worse situation, since often their territories are not fenced at all - there packs of stray dogs visit most often. The locals have to defend themselves by any means.

According to Mikhail Khomyakov, one of the residents of the SNT cottage settlement adjacent to the cottage village, dogs are always in different places, but within the district. They live in the forest. Once they attacked the dog of another local resident when they were walking, and at the same time another neighbor was walking with his daughter nearby. As Michael believes, she, too, could suffer.

“It is better to go outside with self-defense items - everyone here knows this. You never know what the dogs will get into their heads. Sometimes you walk by - they do not touch, and sometimes they bare their teeth and try to attack. It's unpredictable. Hungry, maybe that's why they rush. They are sometimes fed in the "roadsides" and in stores. But, apparently, not always,” notes Khomyakov.

Some, trying to protect themselves, resort to drastic measures: two men periodically shoot these dogs when they walk alone. How else to deal with them, the locals have no idea. According to Mikhail, the trapping services have been contacted for a long time, as a result of which half of the stray dogs were given yellow tags on their ears - supposedly a guarantor of sterilization, vaccination and safety for humans.

Dogs’ ear tags: what do they mean?

On January 1, 2020, Federal Law No. 498 “On Responsible Treatment of Animals” came into force, which involves the capture of dogs, their sterilization, vaccination and further return of animals to Wednesday a habitat. After the entry into force of the law, stray dogs were banned from shooting and they were assured that the innovations would protect both the animal and the person from the adverse consequences of living stray dogs next to people.

Each dog that has passed the entire list of procedures is “tagged” with a yellow or other color “earring” and released into the street. According to the residents of the village, several of these tags hang on some dogs at once - in fact, this means that the animal was allegedly sterilized or vaccinated twice, which in reality cannot be.
