Mishustin urged not to count on a mild course of COVID-19

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, during a meeting of the Coordinating Council under the Government of the Russian Federation to Combat COVID-19, addressed the Russians and urged them not to count on a mild course of the disease, but to protect themselves with vaccination. He is quoted by the press service of the Cabinet.

“The virus is spreading rapidly. Although severe disease is still less common, older people and citizens with chronic diseases are still vulnerable to infection. All protective measures are the same. Timely vaccination is of great importance,” Mishustin said.

He recalled that coronavirus infection can have serious consequences, while vaccination helps protect your health from them. Mishustin stressed that there is a supply of vaccines against COVID-19 in all Russian regions.

He also said that due to the spread of a new “omicron” strain of coronavirus, the epidemiological situation in the country remains tense, and the number of hospitalizations has increased in 48 regions.

Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, Alexander Gintsburg, said that due to the rapid spread of omicron, the likelihood of a new, more dangerous mutation of the virus increases, and only vaccination can save from a pandemic.
