Russia - A criminal case was opened on Sakhalin over the death of a worker under an avalanche

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sakhalin Region reports one death as a result of an avalanche in the Uglegorsk region. Earlier, the Telegram channel of the regional government informed that two workers who were under the snow were rescued, one of them was hospitalized. Subsequently, the message was edited, a clarification appeared: "unfortunately, one of them no longer showed signs of life, the second required hospitalization."

The avalanche came down on the territory of the Solntsevsky coal mine. Four workers at that time were doing the work of dismantling the pipe. Two of them were under the snow mass. One person was pulled out from under the snow and handed over to the doctors. Half an hour later they removed the body of the second. In total, 77 people and 12 pieces of equipment took part in the rescue operations.

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region opened a criminal case into the death of a Sakhalin citizen.

"The acting head of the SO for the city of Uglegorsk of the investigative department, as well as the investigative team, went to the scene. To provide all the necessary practical and methodological assistance in the investigation of the criminal case, forensic investigators from the regional investigative department were sent to the scene. Investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. During the investigation of the criminal case, an assessment will be made of the actions of those responsible for the safety of the work, and preventive measures will be taken," the agency's website says.

The case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules during construction or other work).
