Sultan Khamzaev, a member of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, said that the creation and distribution of content that romanticizes armed attacks on educational institutions and calls for this should be equated with terrorist activity. It is reported by URA.RU.
“With the very phenomenon that this kind of content (about massacres in educational institutions) hangs in the cloud, and any child can get it, and moreover, it is distributed in a targeted way and falls into exactly the groups where they are looking for, this needs to be dealt with more professionally. The development and dissemination of such content should be equated with terrorist activities, because this is precisely terrorism. This is terrorism against children. This is the modern reality we are in,” Khamzaev said.
He stressed that armed attacks on schools and universities are deliberately romanticized in order to repeat such incidents.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the Columbine movement as terrorist. This decision was taken in response to a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office and took effect immediately.
