Rospotrebnadzor said that the Central Research Institute (TsNII) of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor has developed a laboratory technique for determining three subspecies of the omicron coronavirus strain. It is reported by Interfax.
“The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor has developed a new laboratory technique aimed at determining three lines of the Omicron strain of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. This development significantly expands the arsenal of tools for monitoring the epidemiological situation created by the scientists of the center, ”the Rospotrebnadzor said in a statement.
The publication notes that the development of scientists allows us to determine all currently known sub-strains of the Omicron strain - BA.1 BA.2 and BA.3.
Earlier, the head of the preventive center of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Vadim Pokrovsky, told in which case the subspecies of the omicron BA.2 coronavirus variant has a chance of widespread distribution in Russia.
According to the specialist, BA.2 will gain an advantage in distribution if it can infect vaccinated and recovered patients.
