Russia (bbabo.net), - In the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection in Russia, medical insurance companies are monitoring the quality of care for patients with COVID-19. How the checks are carried out and what typical violations experts reveal, Rossiyskaya Gazeta was told in the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS).
Insurance companies involve a multidisciplinary expert group in the examination, consisting of experts from various medical specialties - an infectious disease specialist, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator, a pulmonologist, a cardiologist, a general practitioner or a pediatrician. The expert group addresses each situation in a targeted manner. The most frequent and most significant violations are the failure to comply with the Temporary Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 approved by the Ministry of Health. Errors occur both at the stage of diagnosis and in the treatment of a patient with COVID-19.

“Timely elimination by medical organizations of the violations identified by the experts of the insurance company means effective management of the quality of medical care. How the medical organization will further correct violations of quality will largely determine the outcomes of patients with COVID-19: recovery or there will be complications in the form of chronic organ failure," the VSS explained. "Joint work of a medical organization and an insurance company is a guarantee of observance of the rights and interests of patients in the field of compulsory medical insurance."
