Ukrainian developers are the winners at the world augmented reality competition

The Ukrainian team took the second and the third place at the world augmented reality competition Intel RealSense App Challenge. Tens of thousands developers from all over the world took part in the event.
Ukrainians provided more than 200 concepts of applications. Thus, Ukraine entered the top ten countries by the highest number of registered ideas, 40 ideas of Ukrainian developers reached the final and two Ukrainian projects took prizes.
The second place has been given to the app “Emma” (Emotional Decoration), developed by the Kyiv office of GlobalLogic’s IT team. “Emma” is an application that utilizes the Intel RealSense camera’s ability to recognize voices and faces, alternate backgrounds and enhance reality for the purpose of transferring a user’s emotions to a video chat with the help of colorful illustrations. In addition to being a fun way of communication with family and friends, this application can serve as a tool to provide people with social disabilities with appropriate emotional cues.
Another Ukrainian project, “Theatre of Shadows”, has received the Trailblazer Recognition Award for creating an innovative demo, pushing the boundaries of interaction between computers and humans. It’s an interactive entertainment app for children that transforms a user's palm shadow into animated animals and other characters.
