Earlier it was reported that the boy was hospitalized from an apartment in a multi-storey building on Poltavskaya Street in Engels. His mother was detained on suspicion of attempted murder of a child. According to media reports, the 29-year-old woman saw "something paranormal" in her son. She attacked the child with a knife, inflicting about 20 wounds on the chest, neck and abdomen.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of the incident.
