Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky set the task of increasing the territorial defense forces of Ukraine to 2 million people, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, on February 11, members of the council considered the situation on the border with Russia and in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. In particular, the meeting discussed the issue of the general situation of ensuring national security from internal and external threats and the issue of "risks for the maritime navigation of Ukraine in connection with the intentions of the Russian Federation to block the areas of the Black and Azov Seas under the pretext of exercises." The members of the National Security and Defense Council also considered the issue of receiving international military-technical assistance.
In addition, Danilov, commenting on the publication of the Washington Post about the removal of secret documents and equipment from the headquarters in Kiev, said that there are no grounds for the evacuation of documents yet, and all institutions in the country work in accordance with the regulations.
“Today, no one is moving anywhere,” Danilov emphasized.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Oleksiy Reznikov said that the deployment of territorial defense continues around the clock, and called on Ukrainians to consider the details of their accession to the Ukrainian defense department.
