The Ministry of Justice expanded the list of media-foreign agents

The Ministry of Justice of Russia added Alexander Ainbinder (Ageyeva), the founder of the Sota Vision online publication, to the register of foreign media acting as a foreign agent, according to the data on the website of the department.

Alexandra Ainbinder became the 116th in the list of media-foreign agents.

On November 26, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Oleg Elanchik, editor-in-chief of Sota Vision, in the register of foreign agents.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to analyze the legislation on regulating the activities of non-profit organizations (NPOs) and mass media (media) recognized as foreign agents.

Prior to this, the Ministry of Justice added LPNM LLC and Novaya Glava Publishing House LLC to the register of foreign media performing the functions of a foreign agent.

At the end of 2020, the State Duma adopted a law on regulating the activities of individuals and organizations recognized as foreign agents and engaged in politics in the Russian Federation with funds from abroad. According to the document, the status of a foreign agent can be obtained by individuals, for example, foreign journalists accredited in Russia, as well as unregistered political NGOs with foreign funding.
