Austrian entrepreneurs call for approval of Sputnik V

The Austrian Economic Union has asked the head of the Ministry of Health, Wolfgang Mückstein, to recognize the coronavirus vaccination certificates as the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. It is reported by TASS.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health did not include Sputnik V in the list of drugs that comply with the law on mandatory vaccination.

The union noted that such a decision will affect foreign workers from Hungary, Romania and Poland. These people are forced to constantly be tested for COVID-19, said Kurt Egger, secretary general of the union and member of the Austrian National Council from the Austrian People's Party.

“This frightening situation makes Austria unattractive as a place of work for many and further exacerbates the labor shortage. In order not to further fuel massive labor shortages, we must make it easier, not harder, for foreign workers. Minister of Health [Wolfgang] Mückstein needs to finalize the measures here and recognize Sputnik,” he said.

Earlier, the representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Vujnovic, spoke about the progress in registering the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. She stressed that the process of adding the Russian drug to the list of funds for use in emergency situations (Emergency Use Listing, EUL) has already been resumed. According to her, all the necessary legal documents were also signed.
