The traffic police listed the regions where continuous checks of drivers will be held

On the eve of the weekend, February 12-13, the regional departments of the traffic police announced mass checks of motorists. Most of the raids will be dedicated to finding drunk drivers.

Raid events and thorough sobriety checks of drivers will be held in Kursk, Zadneprovsky district of Smolensk, Ukhta, Kirov, as well as in the Penza region, Belgorod region, Samara region, Ivanovo region, Amur region and the Altai Republic. Preventive operations "Drunk driver" will be held in Sevastopol on the night of February 13 and in the Novgorod region on Sunday.

As part of continuous inspections, traffic policemen stop all vehicles on a certain section of the road and assess the condition of each driver. Particular attention is paid to the presence of signs of intoxication.

Driving while intoxicated is punishable by an administrative fine of 30 thousand rubles and deprivation of rights for a period of 1.5 to 2 years. A repeated violation threatens a drunk driver with criminal liability under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region announced that on February 14-20 they would hold an event on the roads to prevent accidents related to driving into the oncoming lane. On the same days, the Pedestrian preventive measure will be held on the territory of the Magadan Region (the traffic police will strengthen control over dangerous sections of roads, intersections, pedestrian crossings). The same raids will take place from 11 to 20 February on the roads of the Volgograd region. Finally, on February 14, the all-regional preventive event "Seat Belt" will be held in the Ulyanovsk region.

Earlier, the Moscow traffic police called the number of drunk drivers on the roads in January alarming.
