Drachev on the women's sprint race at the 2022 Olympics: it's a shame, there was a chance, but something doesn't work out

Former President of the Russian Biathlon Union Vladimir Drachev, in a conversation with a correspondent, commented on the results of the women's sprint at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Russian Kristina Reztsova took sixth place. Marte Røiseland from Norway won the race.

“At one turn, Reztsova shot unsuccessfully [in the individual race] - this is a purely psychological breakdown. This is understandable, she really wanted to - unfortunately, this happens. But here we see that she made a most unfortunate mistake in the prone position. She fired quickly, walked confidently. And on the "stand" - the same. It's a shame, there was a chance, but something does not work out. While she goes to her medal - and maybe this medal will still be.

Uliana Nigmatullina has to shoot at zero, she knows how to do it - she is one of the best shooters in our team. But all people have breakdowns - functional, psychological pits. Today she fell into a hole while shooting. I gathered on the "rack" - it's nice, but two laps on the "prone" for such a master is incomprehensible. There are always chances. It is clear that Kristina Reztsova is the leader in terms of shooting and results. These are girls who have certain problems both in shooting and in psychology. We are watching, observing and, of course, we wish you success,” Drachev said.

Earlier, three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova, commenting on the silver of Alexander Bolshunov in the 15 km race "classic", wished the Russian skier to behave less arrogantly.
