Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev drew attention to the fact that many labor migrants do not speak Russian well. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“For the most part, many migrants do not speak Russian well. I mean adults already people. This is one of the reasons why foreign communities live in isolation... This is a global problem, but we need to solve it in relation to the conditions in our country,” he said.
Medvedev also recalled that in Russia a mandatory exam in Russian, history and laws of the state was introduced for visitors, which is necessary when obtaining a working patent and a residence permit.
According to him, it is necessary to check the knowledge of migrants in order to first of all allow law-abiding and sufficiently educated foreigners who want to “really live and work here” into the country.
At the same time, the deputy chairman noted that there are questions about the system for organizing exams.
A day earlier, Medvedev was named head of a new Security Council interdepartmental commission on migration policy. It will analyze the migration situation in the country, identify internal and external threats to national security, prepare proposals and recommendations to the Security Council in the field of migration, and participate in the development and implementation of strategic planning.
