Deputies of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation could not express their attitude to the renaming of the Leninsky Court in Grozny to Akhmatovsky

The CPRF faction in the State Duma could not give an unambiguous answer to the question about the attitude towards the draft law on renaming the courts in Grozny submitted to the lower house of parliament. According to the initiative of the Chechen Parliament, Leninsky District Court is proposed to be renamed into Akhmatovsky, Oktyabrsky - into Baysangurovsky, Staropromyslovsky - into Visaitovsky, and Zavodskoy - into Sheikh-Mansurovsky.

State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Yuri Afonin, in an interview with, said that the idea of the authorities of the republic must be studied from a legal point of view and "work out a position."

“Look, we need to consider this, because this is a legal plane. That is, the question is not about renaming the courts, but about the fact that the districts were renamed. So it needs to be looked at from a legal point of view. The faction will study and develop a position,” he stressed.

At the same time, party deputy Leonid Kalashnikov told the publication that he was “far from this topic” and did not want to comment on the bill.

“To be honest, I am far from this topic, I don’t want to talk about this topic at all. If they renamed it, then they renamed it. This does not mean that I, for example, agree that the Leninsky district of Moscow has turned into Khamovnichesky, and the Khamovnichesky court is no longer called Leninsky, but Khamovnichesky. This is of little use, but at the same time, that we will now discuss this in every gateway, which word was changed in the anthem, but the music was left. It doesn't matter if you get up to this anthem or to this music. Therefore, I don’t even want to comment,” he said.

In turn, the deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Arefiev, when asked by a correspondent about his attitude to the renaming of courts, replied that he “does not know”, because he is engaged in the economy.

“I don’t know, it’s better for you to contact the committee on regional policy, because I am engaged in economics. All the best,” he said.

Earlier, the Chechen parliament submitted to the State Duma a draft law on renaming the courts of Grozny, while there is no mechanism for renaming the courts in Russian legislation.

According to the deputies, the districts of the city where these four courts are located were renamed, and the courts retained the old names, which "creates inconvenience for citizens."
