Ukrainian minister wanted to feed a billion people

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko said that the country plans to provide food for a billion people by the end of the decade. He wrote about this Telegram channel.

The Minister stressed that Ukraine is "more confident" claiming the status of one of the largest guarantors of world food security.

“Twenty years ago, Ukraine “fed” only 40 million people in the world. Today, the contribution is equivalent to the subsistence of about 400 million people, not counting our population. Our development strategy until 2030 provides for the provision of food for one billion of the world's population," Leshchenko said.

He stressed that Ukrainian agriculture in 2021 showed the highest increase in production by 14.4%.

Earlier, Oleg Ustenko, economic adviser to the President of Ukraine, said that the office of the President of Ukraine is considering the possibility of introducing food stamps in the country in connection with the crisis. According to him, the administration of the Ukrainian leader believes that support should be provided to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
