The American divisions of Kia Motors and Hyundai Motor urged owners of several models not to park indoors and near other vehicles. NHTSA has announced a recall of almost 485,000 Korean brands due to the risk of spontaneous combustion even with the engine off.
The reason for the recall is the possibility of a short circuit in the ABS control unit. This can lead to a fire both while driving and parking.
The recall campaign included crossovers Kia Sportage 2014-2016 model year, Hyundai Santa Fe 2016-2018 and Hyundai Tucson 2014-2015, as well as the Kia K900 sedan 2016-2018. Of these, 126.7 thousand cars are Kia, and 357.8 thousand are Hyundai.
