US and Europe fear Russian cyberattacks over Ukraine

The European regulator is preparing banks for a possible large-scale cyber attack amid the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources.

One of the interlocutors of the publication said that the European Central Bank (ECB), headed by Christine Lagarde, is "on alert in connection with the threat of a Russian cyber attack." According to him, the regulator has interviewed banks about their readiness to repel cyber attacks.

The agency’s material clarifies that earlier the ECB was engaged in conventional fraud that flourished during the pandemic, but the situation around Ukraine switched the attention of the regulator to cyber attacks, which, as indicated in the material, can be organized from Russia.

Earlier it was reported that the American company Palo Alto Networks, which provides services in the field of cybersecurity, discovered the preparation of a cyber attack on a "Western government agency" whose employees work in Ukraine.
