Russians in 2021 began to turn to neurologists more often

The SberHealth online medical service told which doctors Russians most often consulted online, and which ones they booked for an in-person appointment in 2021.

It turned out that neurologists, gynecologists, otolaryngologists, dermatologists, and psychologists were among the top five doctors for making appointments at private clinics through the service. At the same time, the neurologists who topped the list a year earlier were not even among the top three most popular doctors in full-time recording.

“This is due, among other things, to the increased number of applications due to the post-COVID syndrome. Among the main complaints of patients, weakness, memory impairment, anxiety disorders, asthenia and others are observed, ”the study notes.

At the same time, allergists (2.7 times more), dental hygienists (2.5), vascular surgeons (2.5), ophthalmologists (2.4) and phlebologists showed the largest increase in the number of in-person visits in 2021 (2.4).

The most popular doctors of the telemedicine service were therapists, pediatricians, gynecologists, dermatologists and, again, neurologists.

“The leadership of general practitioners and pediatricians among online consultations, and not face-to-face appointments, is due to the fact that when questions arise about their health, patients turn to these doctors in the first place. Telemedicine in this case allows you to get a consultation within a few minutes from the moment the question arises, in contrast to planning a visit to the clinic, ”SberHealth explained.

In addition, in 2021, gynecologists became the most sought-after highly specialized telemedicine doctors for the first time. This format of communication with a doctor in this area allows you to get an urgent qualified answer, for example, about emergency contraception, as well as ask any delicate questions, avoiding direct contact with the doctor. One of the most popular requests to gynecologists was the topic of vaccination of pregnant and lactating mothers against coronavirus.

At the same time, if we look at the dynamics of online requests in all specialties, then the top five popular doctors who showed the largest increase in the number of requests in the past year were endocrinologists (3.8 times more requests), neurologists (3.7), gynecologists (3 .3), dermatologists (3.3) and cardiologists (3.1).

Earlier, Head of the Department of Faculty Therapy at St Petersburg University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Shishkin said that post-COVID syndrome is observed quite often in people who have recovered from coronavirus.
