RT DE banned in Germany

The German regulator MABB banned the RT DE TV channel from broadcasting in Germany due to the lack of a license, RT reports.

It is specified that RT DE Productions has four weeks to challenge this decision in the administrative court.

The European satellite operator Eutelsat 9B removed the German-language TV channel RT DE from its platform, broadcasting from studios in Moscow, at the request of the German media regulator MABB. RT has been investigated. The head of the regulator Eva Flekena said that the channel did not have a license to broadcast the program in German.

The press service of the RT DE TV channel called the actions of the regulator unlawful and stated that they "violate the European Convention on Cross-border Television (ECTT)". The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, demanded that the OSCE condemn the actions of the German authorities against RT.

The Russian side is ready to introduce restrictions and fines against YouTube and German media in Russia. Information about this was confirmed by a TASS source in the government.
