Russia - The Russian Geographical Society launched a recruitment of 100 teenagers to study maritime specialties

Russia (bbabo.net), - At the beginning of summer, Orlyonok will host a full-time underwater exploration course for 13-16-year-old boys and girls.

They will be trained in specialties: aquanaut (they will take the Open Water Diver course for beginners), lifeguard (a hero who can reach the victim on a boat and provide assistance), hydronaut (pilot of an underwater vehicle), keeper (conservation and museum work) and inventor (creation of underwater devices).

Those who wish must apply to the Underwater Research Center O (through the website oceanautica.ru) before February 17, go through the correspondence training qualifying stage, after which 100 of the best of the best will be invited to Orlyonok. For each of the directions, a reserve list is formed in case of voluntary refusal of a participant from among the winners.

Teaching maritime affairs in this way will begin on May 30, graduation on June 19.

How to get to "Oceanavtika-2022" and what to be prepared for? I called Peter, where the headquarters of the submariners. My interlocutor is Marina Davydova, head of the mass communications service of the O.

You announced: 100 teenagers will go to Orlyonok. But are there any quantitative restrictions on pre-training places?

Marina Davydova: There are no restrictions on the number of participants in distance learning. In fact, the entire training course is available to any child (of course, of the appropriate age for the program) and is completely free. But the parents or guardians pay for the road. All educational materials are written by our specialists, taking into account all their experience, repeatedly checked by methodologists of additional children's education for accessibility for understanding teenagers.

In past years, from 1 to 1.5 thousand participants were registered. But this year we expect a decrease in the number of registrations. This is due to the restriction established by the Ministry of Education: one child can travel free of charge (at the expense of the state) for only one shift a year - from among all Russian children's centers and international children's centers.

According to your experience, what is the best way: to try somehow to interest your son or daughter in this project? Or, on the contrary, the initiative should come from the children. And it's better to wait until he shows interest.

Marina Davydova: The coolest results are obtained when the child himself is on fire with the idea. It doesn't matter where he got his information about Oceanautics, it matters how much it hooked him. There are children who enter the program only in the third year. That is, they do not give up, but go to their goal. Having achieved participation, they absorb all the information given out like a sponge. It is impossible to force to fall in love, however, and to stop loving too.

The best result is when the child himself lights up with some idea. It doesn't matter who he gets information about the project from, what matters is how much it will hook him

Here's a teenager seen enough of "Rescuers Malibu" and decided: I want it too. Sign up for lifeguards. I'll be tanned, popular. And in the "Eaglet" - the routine, their own rules, you need to obey the leaders. Are there many who can't stand it?

Marina Davydova: At 7.45 we wake up, and at 22.00 - hang up. And of course, "Eaglet" has its own rules, clear and strict. But! It is important to understand that they are designed specifically for the comfort and safety of the children themselves. Five meals a day. Three hours a day are allotted for classes - 1.5 hours in the morning and in the afternoon. In the afternoon there is still a mandatory 1.5 hours of rest and silence. No one is forced to sleep, but children need to reduce the degree of emotions. And if at the beginning of they all brag, then in the second half they themselves tend to sleep, realizing that in the second half of they are again waiting for activity and need to gain strength. Time is allotted for creativity, sports, general educational activities and detachment affairs. Children are busy all day, but these activities are diverse and interesting. And you can talk about the traditions of "Eaglet" with its songs, legends, evening bonfires, rules of attention to each other and good relations for hours. All this is the result of many decades of continuous pedagogical tradition, taking into account all aspects of personality development.

In my memory there were no such children who would be indignant at the established order. Needless to say, we ourselves return to the camp every year with pleasure, we love to plunge into its atmosphere, which makes each person kinder, brighter, more polite and fairer.

If someone has already been trained in the program "Oceanautics", is it possible to re-take the training again?

Marina Davydova: The vast majority of the full-time program participants strive to return to Oceanavtika again. We always welcome children who return to the program. We even have special extensions for the graduate badge: "twice oceanaut", "three times oceanaut". These children are very useful within the learning process, they themselves can explain a lot to first-timers: tell the names of teachers, share knowledge in specialties, talk about behaviors. But there is one limitation for returning children to the program - you cannot return to the completed specialty. If the participant is interested in underwater exploration, then he should try himself in different directions. Well, we cannot rewrite the program every year. The Underwater Research Center O has many projects. There is simply no time for their regular alteration.

Follow the fate of your "oceanauts"?

Marina Davydova: Yes! Three of our graduates have already been hired as students. We are in contact with a lot of guys. For some of our projects, volunteers are required, which we, of course, primarily recruit from trained guys who are well acquainted with us, our values, rules for handling equipment, and safety standards. When our graduates enter universities, they report where they are. Often asked for our scientific guidance or peer review. It's nice. We never refuse.

Specifically

Number of places in the directions: aquanauts - 20 people; rescuers - 24 people; hydronauts - 24 people; keepers - 12 people; inventors - 20 people.

There are no health restrictions for curators and inventors. For other specialties - 1st and 2nd health groups, admission to practical classes - according to the results of a medical examination.

The organizers are asking parents to take into account the following fact: the face-to-face course at Orlyonok runs from May 30 to June 19, that is, it falls on the period of school exams for students in the 9th and 11th grades.
