On February 14, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov once again criticized the celebration of St. Valentine's Day in Russia, noting that it is unacceptable either in schools or in government institutions. In Russia, it is necessary to cancelebration of St. Valentine's Day. This statement was made on Monday, February 14, by State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov.

"There shouldn't be such a holiday in schools or public institutions.

Holding such events in our country does not happen from a great mind. We are not Papuans to arrange a cargo cult of well-fed Western life, ”RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

Milonov believes that Valentine's Day allegedly "has nothing to do with either the spiritual or cultural context of the event."

It should be noted that the deputy almost every year opposes the celebration of St. Valentine's Day in Russian schools. So, in 2020, he addressed the Minister of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, with a corresponding initiative. Milonov's address said that "metaphysically, this holiday has no depth and philosophical wisdom."

The parliamentarian also expressed concern that "a rash decision by any educational institution to organize the celebration of Valentine's Day" could lead to the fact that the younger generation will have "incorrect and distorted ideas about love or marriage."

Milonov believes that the “plasticity”, as well as the “consumer essence of the holiday”, deprives schoolchildren of “awareness of the entire depth of spiritual closeness”.

He believes that this holiday is "unnatural to the traditions of national culture" and potentially dangerous "for the harmonious development" of young people.
